Vintage 2015 is drawing to a close for Aramis Vineyard in what has been a rapid but ideal growing season. While rainfall was limited during winter and spring, mild conditions and cool evenings throughout summer allowed for perfect ripening conditions and vine development. We picked our Shiraz grapes over the Valentine’s Day weekend and our Cabernet the following weekend.
A couple of short but intense bursts of heat in January and February led to McLaren Vale reds being picked about two weeks earlier than last year’s vintage which has resulted in lower than average yields. Despite this, our winemaker Scott Rawlinson has lauding the 2015 vintage on par with 2010 – a great year which produced big, ripe reds with hints of chocolate, Christmas cake and white pepper
