About Tombacco/47 Anno Domini
Tombacco is a generational winery founded in 1919, now in the hands of brothers Cristian and Andrea. Based in Trebaseleghe, a rural town close to the historic centre of Treviso, the AD47 brand makes reference to the year in which one of the most important Roman roads, the Claudia Augusta, was completed – a road that runs for 25ha along the vineyards.
The AD47 brand focuses on the renowned wines of the Tri-Veneto region, principally Prosecco. The Frizzante style with its striking packaging and classic string top has lighter bubbles than a standard Prosecco (a string top cannot withstand the same amount of pressure as a metal cage), while the Millesimato represents outstanding value for a vintage Prosecco.
The Tombacco wines with their delightfully vintage labels pay homage to the first labels ever released by the winery nearly a century ago. These reds are produced from the sun drenched regions of Campania and Molise and represent the unashamedly robust and rustic nature of the great reds of southern Italy.
