Capture California

Captûre brings classic winemaking to the rugged Mayacamas Mountains in Northern California’s wine country. This volcanic range runs 52 miles southeast from Mendocino County, shearing through Lake, Sonoma and Napa Counties on its way. These mountains are rich in winegrowing history; winemaking dates back to the 1860s in these mountains. Established in 2008, Captûre is inspired by California’s frontier spirit while staying true to time-honored winemaking traditions.

Its origins are rooted in the far reaches of the Mayacamas Mountains. Captûre seeks out remote, high elevation vineyards within Pine Mountain-Cloverdale Peak, Alexander Valley, Sonoma County and Lake County—appellations at the untamed edges of mainstream winegrowing, where wildlife is seen more than human visitors. With elevations up to 3,000 feet, conditions here are tough for the vines. Thin topsoil forces the roots to burrow down deep into the rock to search for water and nutrients, producing wines rich in character, complexity and elegance.
